Crossover Tube on Right Exhaust Manifold 1987 L98 Photo Needed

Talk about exasperating, exhausting (no pun intended) dilemma in my search for a photo of the darn Crossover Tube going from the Right (passenger side) Exhaust Manifold that goes into the Intake Manifold & on the Manifold end of business houses the EGR Temp Sensor Switch.

I am removing my very leaky Shorty Header's and until my Disability Check affords me Long Tube Header's I am going back to factory Stock Exhaust Manifold's. My original Manifolds were used to cut the Air Pipes off & welding onto the Shorty Header's. Along with a fabricated, made by the engine builder, this Cross Over Tube. The Factory Manifold has the opening, which is nearly 3/4 of an inch in diameter & has a "bulge" near the top I would presume to insure a tight seal. Knowing how HOT this thing gets using a Heater Hose to connect to a pipe to go to the Intake Manifold would be disasterous. I will attempt to include the only photo that I have that will show what my Crossover Tube looks like for clarification of what I am talking about. I have no problem with making this connection by my own fabrication but seeing the factory way would be helpful.

One thing to keep in mind is I am doing this in my garage at home & have NO welding tools to do any welding. I will attempt to post a photo here & have circled the tube as it currently is on my engine. If not seen here go to my page. So...

Please, does anyone have a photo of their engine showing the connection of this tube where it connects into the Exhaust Manifold? Or, perhaps someone would be so kind as to take a picture and include it in their reply? Thanks.

BTW, what about just closing off the EGR Valve & eliminate this tube altogether?

this is lonewolfs image

a close up image like this....    why.. with aluminum heads there is no crossover passage.. so the EGR flow has to come from the exhaust headers/manifolds..

Thanks Wayne.

That makes sense about the Aluminum Heads & EGR. I had forgotten about this what with all my research and all.

Until I get a photo showing me how the factory had this crossover tube connected to the manifold I'll just make my own connections. Funny how I can't find a photo of this anyplace that I have searched. Not saying there isn't one someplace just that I can't find one.

How is it your photo of my engine came out but mine did not? At any rate thanks for making it viewable.

Working on the exhaust today & other Corvette items.

Greg.
It let me in own this post and not the other???

Do you have any type of service manual. GM use to have a place where you could send for the complete service manual set. I purchased them for my 1979 and 1981 Z28's and my 1986 Monte Carlo.SS. The company was called Helms. There were (2) manuals, one for electrical and the other for the mechanical. These manuals where more indept then any service manual you can by. It has codes for everything and anything. It showed where markings were placed.etc, etc. etc. Is there an order in the back of your owner's manual? This is just a thought, and it would save you a lot of time. I did the same thing when I bought my boat. I ordered the complete service manuals directly from Mercruiser. The details are second to none. Just my 2 cents. Another thought, you have open air Flea Markets in Ca.

Bob, aka Pepsi1,

Thanks for the info. I remember Helm's from many years ago. I will give this a try in looking up some manuals. I have never had any manuals for my Corvette outside of my Chiltons Manual. Which I fear isn't up to snuff on so many things. Flea Markets abound aplenty here & the wife & I used to go often. With my wife's health as it is we haven't been in a few years either.

Thanks.
