When using speed bleeders, how do you know when the air is out of the brake line?
Installed new master cylinder and purchased speed bleeders.  Directions say to loosen quarter to half and pump until air is out.

How do you know?  Tried one to start it off on left inner side rear.  Getting a little bit of brake fluid.  Is that enough? Should I stick to my Mityvac?

the idea of speed bleeders..   getting the air out of the lines... by stopping the air from being pulled back into the system when you release the brake pedal while the bleeder screw is open..

bleeding until you get no more air from the bleeder..

did you bench bleed the master.. or use the lines that usually come with it.. to bleed it back into its self??? to get rid of the trapped air in the master cylinder bore...

i have had great luck using a brake bleeder pump similar to the mityvac..  just make sure that the tank and lines with the mityvac  hold vacuum without being hooked up.. just the end of the hose blocked..

you will have to bleed all 4 brakes..  i go around twice.. once to get the system clear of air and flowing properly.. the second time just to verify that i have gotten all the air out.. ..

Yes...I bench bled master OK..I also replaced the passenger side front caliper........Guess I got ahead of myself thinking the speed bleeder was "magic" ..Probably should use my Mityvac on all six..(It's a 76)...with standard bleeders... then replace them with the speed bleeders..I "got" the concept about one way air exit..but couldn't figure out how you knew when to move on to the next bleeder..

Thanx for the info and speedy reply...

Exactly the same way as with stock bleeders
You use some clear PVC tubing into a container and when the fluid comes out clean and free from bubbles you  know line is right
Speed bleeders only save you having to loosen / tighten the bleeder between pumping pedal and let you bleed without a helper
