Can someone point me to a set of instruction on how to replace the cruise control lever found on the steering column I’ve look through my 1986 shop manual but did not find anything telling how to change this part out. Any help on this matter who be appreciated.

if you have a factory shop or service manual.... see if includes section 3B5 thats three, bee, five, the Bs look like an eight..
you will also need some special tools... and the new turn signal stalk.... one thing there are several different stalks... with and without delay wipers.... the parts are not really interchangeable..
if you plan on doing this.. you will need a few tools... steering wheel puller kit... a steering lock plate depressor kit...
if your car has the teloscopic column.. its a bit harder...
you might if you have a VATS ignition key... want to examine the lock cylinder for wear... they do wear the contacts inside do break... picking up a new ignition lock cylinder with a pair of plain keys... taking the new plain keys and your existing key to a lock shop or key shop... have them measure the resistance of the pellet in your existing key.. select a matching blank.. and copy the new keys cuts into it.. this will allow you to install the new vats lock cylinder without any problems ....

let me post some links...
http://www.stolenandrecovered.com/tele2.pdf
see the plastic item in picture #8... if you break that.. don't bother with GM.. get it from a corvette supplier..
i have tried... and they do break... use extreme care when removing it..
here is a different link to that site...

the cruise control stalk comes with its own little flat harness..
some of the later models with the wiper switch on the turn signal stalk have a wiper switch harness ...
the turn signal switch has a harness...
the 3 above are available...
the underhood and various harness are already available.. as far as i know...

One of our 1985 Corvettes suffered damage to the turn signal/cruise control arm and the mechanism inside the column. The arm was pulled back too far and the arm broke 1/2 way through, cam inside column was also damaged. I ordered another switch arm then went to a Corvette shop, Corvette Express, to get the internal pieces. They were not wanting to dismember a good column to get the parts I needed so I bought a complete column from them for $150, turns out that was the best $150 investment I have ever made! Everything worked but the arm looked like faded trash. Without removing the steering wheel I swapped out the control arm. The way I did it was to remove the cover that is in front of the arm, the one the telescopic control arm sticks out of. The flat connector on the end of the ribbon cable was NOT able to be fished out so I cut it off and attached a piece of aircraft safety wire to it, pulled the safety wire through, then cut the new ribbon cable, pulled it back through the tilt mechanism using the safety wire, then soldered the end back onto it. I think I did it in about 4 hours from start to finish. Here is a link to photos and description of the project. http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/Airjohn1/1985%20Corvette%20Things/
