Two issues first the oil pressure guage on the C4 92-96 is not calibrated in lbs sq inch what is the pressure for 1/4 1/2 and what is normal at idle and running?. Next issue with the instruments all flashing off at idle and at the same time amp meter peaks is this an issue with the CPU or a short in the system? Ray

the cluster flashing out when the amp meter peaks.. is probably a serious problem... oh.. its probably a volt meter.. not an amp meter.. but i have not looked at the cluster on one of these or payed attention..
do you plan on fixing it your self.???
i seem to recall there were several problems with various C4 clusters..
can you narrow a year down so can narrow down the search for exact info...
if you have a digital volt meter.... you might want to do a voltage drop test on the ground side of the system first..
set your hand held digital volt meter to 20 Volts DC....
start the engine.. turn on the parking lights or head lights..
measure from the negative battery post to the engine block/ intake manifold 0.04 volts is expected..
measure from the negative battery post to the chassis ground.. near the power brake booster..0.02 volts..
measure from the engine block to the chassis ground... again 0.02 volts is expected..
if you get more than what i posted.. post the numbers and where you measured from...
the engine has to be running and the lights on for this test to be accurate...
if you get a reading of 0.00 volts.. you also have a problem with where you are testing at...
i think in the tech section is an article on the C4 clusters..
you also want to monitor the voltage at the battery.... positive to negative... 14.1 to 15.3...
there is also a positive battery terminal block somewhere under the hood... follow the positive cable from the battery... its a place where the big wire to the starter is hooked to the battery cables.. i seem to recall that ther were problems with the terminal stud and ring terminals burning and causing voltage spikes..
you might want to carefully disconnect the battery.. starting at the negative side... move the cable away so it cannot touch... then take the terminal post nut off and wire brush the post and ring terminals... got burn marks... discoloration.. you might want to replace it if it cannot be cleaned up or the plastic is melted...
