I want to replace my stock shifter on the warner 4 speed 76 vette with a short throw shifter. Who makes a suitable replacement.

i made my own for a my muncie that looked like this..

i don't know if anybody still makes a decent shifter at all for corvettes..  hurst shifters got bought out by B&M

i see to recall seeing a short throw kit for something just the other day... used shorter arms on the transmission..

you could probably redrill your arms easier...  and a LOT cheeper...   drill the hole closer to the shift shaft..

this way .. you could switch back....  i drove my car with the shifter above for about 2 years..   center lever forward was first.. pull back two  was second..    push forward and put a thumb on the left lever so it comes out of second and then third slides in...   then back on the left one 2 notches for 4th gear...

the short lever was reverse....    i was able to lock the transmission in a forward gear and reverse get something like PARK on an automatic.. except the engine would not run unless the clutch was depressed..   i never feared parking on any hill with that shifter..

is your shifter worn .. and loose????   there are several articles about rebuilding them...  at home...  making new separators for the insides...    welding up and grinding back to size any worn spots...

i think the shifter rebuild article was in another magazine on this site...

and you might see what B&M has come out with since they bought up hurst.. if my memory serves me right..

here are a few shifters from hurst..  you can narrow the selection by selecting or deselecting options on the left..

looks like this one fits your chassis
with any of the T10 or muncie transmissions...

here are some articles i found on installation...

edit... i don't know if you are still watching..

but you might also check out this shifter..

seems to be 4-3/8" throw.. between gears.. but may not fit with your console...

the short throw lever kits are for 84 to 88 with the 4+3 transmissions...

does not mean it won't fit your transmission...
