The other day I was in a parking lot and shifted out of 1st to neutral, when I let go of the clutch I stalled out. Now either because of this or the reason this happened I am now stuck in first gear but my shifter feels like its in neutral.
I can still drive it in first as well as engage the clutch peddle to coast, but I'm still stuck.

Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

This is a 69 corvette with a 350 engine and the original transmission. thx.

yes... the gear shift lever is out of position....

this is going to require properly setting the parking brake... making sure the car won't roll...  getting up under the driver side... pulling the second gear shift lever back to center...

there are 3 levers with rods on the drivers side of the transmission...

front to rear....

3rd gear / 4th gear lever.   then   the 1st / 2nd gear lever...  then the reverse lever...

when i have a somebody with this problem.. if they can drive the car part way into a driveway...  so the center of the car is even with the curbing.. there is usually enough room to sometimes reach the shift rods..

there is NO way to do this from the top.... it has to be done under the car..  and when you have done this.. the transmission will be in neutral... failure to block the wheels and verify the parking brake is set and holding..  may result in you becoming flat stanley..

see a tow truck driver... with a wheel lift???  or a flat bed...   they can lift the car easily for access...

when you get done...  use care when shifting...    its probably time to think about rebuilding the shifter... there are articles on it...

post and i will dig one up...
