I am new to owning a Corvette and my first is a 76 L82 that has been sitting in a garage/barn since 1985. As you might guess the interior is in need of help. Since I need to focus on the brakes and all things rubber first, I would like to just clean up the interior. The leather seats have cleaned up well with soap and water and a little leather cleaner as well as the doors. The carpeted cleaned up well too. However, I am having trouble with the steering wheel. It is sticky and looks like it is leaking an oil/fluid. Any ideas? Looking through Corvette America and Corvette central it does look like finding a replacement is easy.
Since the car is still completely stock, I would like to keep it that way.

there are LOTs of car owners.. or various other exotics... with similar problems where the plastics bleed...
buy a new one
as long as you don't throw the wheel away.. you don't devalue the car...
there may be ways to clean it... perhaps some scrubbing.. with mild soap.. and a scotch brite for teflon frying pans.. usually white or pink in color...

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try as I look for a replacement. I have had a little success with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
