I HAVE A 90 ZR-1 THAT WONT RUN....WHEN I PARKED IT, IT WAS RUNNING FINE, THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT TO START IT IT HAD A SMALL BACKFIRE (I HAVE HAD THEM BEFORE) AND THEN IT WOULD ALMOST RUN BUT JUST WOULDNT STAY STARTED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SO I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE TROUBLE MIGHT BE. ANY ADVISE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANKS,
BRIAN

do you have access to a scan tool that reads live data stream that is available on that model...
here is a chart for most gm fuel injection systems...
http://repairguide.autozone.com/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images/0900c152/80/06/7e/6a/large/0900c15280067e6a.gif
this allows you to understand what the ECM is seeing..
fill out the chart with your key on.. but the engine not running readings...
then you can see a few of them that need to have the engine cranking.. this is how professionals do it..
scan for codes... examine the data streams.. check fuel pressure.. check spark...
it takes an OBD1 scan tool that will work with gm to access the data stream...
there are units sometimes on craigs list.. and a few models of scan tools are still available new...
you might also want to listen at the fuel tank... when someone else turns the key from OFF to the run position... perhaps you have just had the fuel pump fail... happens a LOT on various corvettes..
one more thing to check...
when it fails to start.. is the security light on the dash board turned on???? that might indicate a Vats system failure.. usually these will let the engine start for 2 seconds and cut the fuel ...
