C5 Headlight repair

I just got a 2000 convertible.  It's my first Vette and love it, my passenger side headlight is not coming up.  It makes a grinding sound, I assume this is the gears stripping out.  

Is it as easy as looks to fix? I have pretty good mechanical ability and a full set of tools.

Also, has anyone used the brass gears made from Rodney Dickman?  How are they, should I use them? I feel maybe the extra weight of the brass gear may burn out the motor faster?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chevrolet Corvette 2004-97; Pontiac Firebird 2002-93; Saturn SC, Coupe 1996-91, replaces damaged gear inside motor   available at many parts stores...  

might as well do the other side while your at it!  

I got machined brass gear kit from guy on ebay, (oem is nylon- against metal worm gear).  He even included instructions-it's an easy fix.  Did both in one day in driveway.  About $50 bucks each.  

I have been looking without any luck for the brass gear set for my 2000 vette.  Any information on where ton get them or a link would be appreciated.  

Try some of the Corvette vendors such as Corvette Central or Corvette America. Mid America Motorworks has the bronze gears. Some 2000 Corvettes came with the aluminum housing instead of plastic; it may make a difference.
