just curious....   planning on making more power??????   or are your injectors clogged or gone south..????

many injectors can be cleaned...    at home... with some brake cleaner or carb cleaner sprays... some various sizes of rubber hose to connect them to the spray nozzle..   power them up with a used injector electrical connector and a 9 volt battery..

injectors are rated in pounds per hour....   or ounces per minute... depending on the brand..

Thanks for the response.. No not more power. I have a problem that others have described, such as  running for a few minutes then engine quits. May start again and quit. After a while will start again run a bit and die again.
Have changed tank filter and in-line filter, and ignition module.  Also, I now have the in injectors out and have spray tested them, and they seem too do fine. The resistance on the injectors seems to read 10 ohms to 17 ohms. Doesn't realy look like a problem.. What do you think?  Appreciate your input..   Marty

Pulled throtle body and passenger side intake tubes, removed fuel rails and injectors, Bench test all injector for continuity, then preasure and voltage applied and all injectors worked about the same. Car doesn't run any better but I sure got too turn some wrenches.
Started up and ran good for about a minute or so then began cutting out and died. After aminute started back up ran just a few seconds then died again. I don't know.
Any one beenhere before??   Marty  HELP!!

i just answered you on your fuel pump relay location....

several things..... do you have a timing light....?????   once you get it back together... hook the timing light to one of the spark plug wires...  tape the trigger on the timing light on...     with the engine running... and you can see the flashing light..   see if the light stops flashing when the motor first starts to die... this is an easy way to tell if the ignition system is causing the problem...

do you have an ecm codes set in the computer?????    got a scan tool that works with your model... OBD1 GM...

any chance that the resister in the key is loosing contact with the contacts in the keyway... a good shot of WD40 and working the lock a bunch of times to wear through any corrosion.    when this fails.. usually it will flash the security light ...

there have also been a bunch of problems with the ignition modules failing...  and the pick up coils failing...

most AZ stores have module testers...   you can take out the module...   take it to the store... have them test it SIX times in a row...   this will build some heat in it..  if it passes all 6 tests.. it is probably OK..

do you have a digital volt meter... test the pick up coil... set the digital volt meter to 2K ohms...  (2,000 ohms scale..)
should be somewhere between 500 and 1,500 ohms...      before disconnecting .. flip the meter to 20 volts ac  and if the distributer is out .. spin the shaft...  you should be able to create over 1 volt AC...  if you cannot make one volt of ac...  there will not be enough signal to make the module switch the coil on and off...

if the connector for the pick up coil has green corrosion on it... replace the pick up coil and the module...
replacement harnesses for the inside are also available...

oh... if the cap has been changed...    did the ground strap that fits under the coil get moved over to the new cap...   the black wire out of the HEI coil is the far end of the windings...   it also grounds the frame of the coil...  but through the ground strap.. this connects to the center wire of the 3 that go into the distributer housing ...  the center wire is grounded through the tab that holds the harness down in the housing...  is that screw tight????

when the ground strap gets left out of the cap... you normally notice...   as it sounds like someone is firing a 12 gauge shot gun under the hood...   the coil can build up enough voltage that when it arcs over... it is that loud...

my brother in law and his helper swapped motors in his chevy truck.. they left that ground strap out.. but got 80 miles while going through several coils and modules...    they called me.. i told them what the problem was...  what part numbers to get from the napa stores in that area...   they hung up...  i thought about it... called the 3 possible stores... had them pull the parts... and described my in law and his helper.. when i talked to him months later... i ask what happened...

he said it was really strange..  as they walked thorugh the doors of a store they had never been in before...  they were greeted by their first names... and the exact parts they needed were sitting on the counter waiting for them...

i spoiled it by telling him that i had put them on will call at 3 different stores...    forward thinking sometimes works out too well...
