vette was running fine. stopped went to start no crack, no clicking, battery good, fuses good, tried a remote starter switch it turned over and started but died.the ign key is the original. the keyless entry does not work. battery is ok in it. no codes. entry lights don't work. lcd insterments don't come on. high beam light is on head lights are off. the dealer said try unhooking the battery hold the cables toghter for 30 sec to reset the ccm, central control module. but no luck. dealer said bring it in they could hook it up and find out whats wrong. before i spend $1,000 has anyone had this problem?

the high beam light coming on with the head lights off tells me that you have a ground problem...

go to the hardware store or paint store..   they have stainless steel tooth brushes..   think of something that looks like a wooden tooth brush.. but has stainless steel wires...   1 buck to 4 bucks..  work great for this project...

take the battery terminals off...    clean them....  find the other end of the ground wire...   at the motor... take it off and clean it...  find the lead off the side of the battery ground terminal... follow that... take that apart...  probably a 15 mm nut on a stud in a little black box with a bunch of wires coming out of it...   wire brush all of them...   put it back together...

you can do a voltage drop test first.. or clean the grounds... first..

i take it that you have a digital volt meter?????      do you know how to do a voltage drop test...?????

set the meter to 20 volt scale...   hook it across the battery... should be between 12.5 and 13.9 volts...

then reach in the car.. turn on the head lights...    yea i know they don't work... yet...

measure between the negative battery post and the engine block...   should read less than... 0.02 volts...

measure between the negative battery post. and  a good ground... try the power brake booster... thats close... should be less than 0.02 volt...   then find the ground junction box...   test between the negative batter and that... less than 0.02 volts...

if you got any more voltage readings when testing only one side...  than 0.02.. you have found the problem...

remember.. everything needs 2 wires to complete a circuit...   and the ground is run through the chassis along with its own circuits...    when the ground circuits get loose... weird things happen...

what you are looking at when you do a voltage drop test is the difference in voltage between the 2 parts..  if the ground is good...  the voltage will be way low.. less than a quarter of a volt...  if the ground is bad between parts.. you will have over 1 volt readings..  this only works when the circuits are on...

the high beam bulb staying on with the head lights off  tells me that another circuit is trying to ground through that bulb circuit...

don't change any parts until you verify all the grounds.... unless you like changing parts that are not bad...

oh.. and most of the circuits that you have described.. are controlled by relays... and those really don't work with out a proper ground ....
