Past the point of no return

I dropped a 454 into my 79 Corvette. I've had a little direction on some parts. I hear I need a better trans, go figure more money, of course I had to buy all brackets for alt, po steering I've got the headers I'm working on the exhaust now my questions are what about the rear end and this tranny rebuld any specs available out there? I'm at the tail end of a dry well!  

The rear should be ok, the rear in your '79 is the same rear used in the early C3s that came form the factory with big blocks.

For the trans, you'll need to either get a TH400 to install with the 454, or have the TH350 out of your car rebuilt by a good performance transmission shop to handle the torque of your big block.
