I just purchased a 1976 coupe with an L48 engine. This car has 38,000 origional miles and has been sitting for several years. As you can imagine, it needs a little TLC to bring it up to speed. This car is completely stock. I'm having a little trouble finding what thermostat was originaly installed (160, 180, 195, etc.) Anybody able to help me out?

I have a 76 L-48 with a 4speed.The temp you are looking for from the factory is 180,But Im using a 160 in the summer months, but I just dropped a stroker in mine with aluminum heads. But even in the old engine I ran a 160.But to answer your question, the answer is a 180.
