Differential bolts on an '82

Hi folks,
I recently picked up an '82 Corvette differential for use in my street rod. Upon disassembly I find that the bolts holding the carrier to the support are practically stripped and use strange bolts that appear to be self-tapping. Is this common? What is the normal procedure for repair? It appears that they can be easily tapped to 12mm.

Never mind. I just drilled them and tapped them to 12mm.
