I found a 1966 coupe for sale ,it has a 327 with a 4 speed in it now , I know it's not the original engine , how do I find out what is the right engine and tranny and other stuff should be ? I want to make a father and son project with it and put it back as close to original as I can. Thanks !! Steve

This isn't hard. First thing you need to do is find the data plate on the car. It's usually on the firewall someplace.
The next thing is to drop the gas tank and see if the build sheet is still attached. It probably is long gone, but you never know.
Since it has a four speed in it, I'd guess it's at least an original four speed car.

I am about to change a power brake booster on an 84 vette. Milage on car is 40,000. I have owned car 4 years. It looks as if booster was changed along with cylinder once before. There is a label on booster and it looks after market . I had a shop change my disc and calipers on front and when he gave me the report of all the things he found wrong I just let him do brakes as I hate doing them. Pedal is hard and car will stop but no on a dime like it did prior. Shop never mentioned cylinder as being shot only booster. I am purchasing master cylinder and changing first. If that does not correct my stopping problem then I have to change booster. I am aware I have to remove the 4 bolts that support booster from inside cabin. What issues can I expect? Any special tools thanks for what help you can offer on this forum

Steve. Take down all that stuff and take it to a library, they have books there such as Chiltons, Clymer, Haynes, Mitchells, and "Motors Manuals". Usually in the front of the book they tell you how to break it all down. another bet is to search the web for the Idaho Vette Club. They have a web page devoted to code breakdowns and I believe it is year specific.
