What is involved in replacing an 99 C5 Convertible LS1 with a LS3? Will the engine fit in the C5 without engine bay modifications? What else would need to updated (rear end, tranny, drive line, etc) to complete the change.
Thanks, love the mag.

Pretty sure all of the LS family of engines are direct bolt-ins for C5's & C6's, the difference would be in the computers. Now, as for the tranny, if you're running the 4L60E automatic, that will likely need beefed up, if it's the manual you should be fine.

The engines are idetical for mounts and accessories. The problem is, the early LS1 used a physical throttle cable, while later LS1s/LS2s/LS3s used a throttle by wire system. For the swap to work, you' have to find a donor car to get the throttle setup from, unless you were gonna use an itake that kept your throttle by wire setup.
