Hey folks
Upgrading my 80 corvette 350 to a 383 and i am putting a summit high flow pump on. First of all...do i have to regulate my pressure/flow and second...what do i do with the smaller of the two lines that went to my stock pump. Have i bought the wrong pump if it only has an in and out 1/4 inch port? Do i need a pump that returns gas to the tank? (i am assuming that the small line is coming from the tank and it is return ...not just vent because it does go to the tank...i think).
The reason i am changing it is because i did have the correct push rod for the pump with the brass end and it was on the cam side but the brass mushroomed and would not come out...needed to be filed to exit the block....i called crane and he suggested the only thing he might do is try a different pump.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok. So, if I'm reading you correctly, you supposedly had the correct fuel pump pushrod, but it mushroomed and you had to work to get it out, and now are looking ot convert to an electric pump because the guy at Crane couldn't tell you why the pushrod went fubar?
What kind of cam does your motor have? Is it a steel cam or cast iron cam? If it's a roller, more than likely it's a steel cam, flat tappet it's cast iron.
Comp offers a roller tipped fuel pump pushrod for small blocks, I'd suggest going with that, and at least calling their tech line, tell them the problem you had, and ask for advice on a new fuel pump pushrod. Try this first before coverting to an electric pump.
