87 digital dash lights

I have an 87 Vette, the digital dash lights go out sometimes then reset themselve after the car sets for awhile off.
I've chked the fuses and breakers in the fuse box and nothing there seems to be wrong or effect the problem.
When it happens the high beams light and the emer. flasher light light up.
All functions of the car seem to be fine during this time only the dash lights go out.
Any clues ????

Wow, I have never had this problem on my '87 Vette. But I did go in and replace all of the little lamps (bulbs) inside the unit since they were either getting very dim or just burned out. It sounds like maybe a short or loose wire inside the unit. This can be checked when you replace the lamps as to any wire being loose or grounding gone bad. Is this effecting only the tach/speedo area or the center console display as well? I just went in and replaced all lamps inside the whole dash including the Digital Auto AC unit. Let me know if none of this helps as my mechanic of 25 years is good with my needs and can probably help with answer's.
