Hi, first of all I want to introduce myself. I'm a new italian member of this forum. I need help. I'm going to buy a ZR1 but according to the VIN it isn't a ZR1 but a simple Vette. This is the VIN 1G1YY22P1S5115738. The owner says it's a '93 ZR1 and on italian documents the car is registered as Corvette ZR1 with 280 kw but checking the VIN it results a '95 Corvette. The car has not the tail light on top but has a six speed gear. Please help me. Thanks

According to Mike Antonick's excellent "Corvette Black Book," all ZR-1s ('90 through '95) had a "Z" in the fifth place of the VIN. Given that the car in question has a "Y" in that space, it would appear that it is NOT a ZR-1.
That doesn't mean it isn't worth buying, but you should adjust your offer accordingly.
Good luck.

Also look at the width of the car....A ZR1 is clearly and distinctively wider than a regular vette.....Also has 11inch wide rear wheels.
