o.k., new to vettes, so please bear with me . . .

first,a brief history, so my ?'s make more sense:
why'd i buy a 2007 mustang gt vert. in february?
well, i wanted an '09 camaro since about the fall of '06 . . .
i decided i couldn't wait for a new muscle car.
i couldn't fit into a GTO without banging my head on the a-pillar.
i settled (happily) on the stang.

fast forward:
i am fairly deep ($19k) into mods, with another $8-10k on the horizon in the next 4-5 months.

my intial plans were for a single turbo.
i first decided i'd do some suspension work ($5k) so i could plant the power, once the turbo went on.

then it is about $3k for 6 rims and tires (alternate rears for the strip)

as i learned more, i realize the con-rods are a major weak link for high hp builds (anything >500rwhp).

so, 'forged internals' snowball into a built long block with stage III p&p heads, and stage II turbo cams.
it gets installed friday. ($9k before installation).

TWIN turbo's will go on in Jan. or Feb.

then a roll cage, then a t-6060 tranny, then a built rear-end.

and then i am on to the next car,
which is what brings me here

first, lessons learned:
had i know what i know now, and what i was going to eventually do . . .

I'd have bought a used, or even slightly wrecked V6, for the initial platform, since so much of the important stuff is changed.

next car was going to either be a MAXED OUT 1,500+ hp drag car, with a v6 for the starter.

then i am thinking, maybe get a gt-500 and get it into the 9's, or 8's, but still be streetable, and hot-lappable.

now i am thinking, just get a vette instead.lighter, sexier, bigger engine, etc.

so, i love the c6's, and especially the z06's, utterly beautiful.

i want to have a better idea of where i am heading, so i don't start down the wrong path.
so here are the few questions, after that long saga:

if i decided to add twin turbos, to either vette (c6 or z06) what would be the HP ceiling i could attain without having to do a major rebuild, of rotating assemblies, etc.

please answer for both the c6, and the z06
is that at the crank? or rwhp?

what IS the weak link for a high HP buildup? (crank, rods, pistons, other?)
heads, cams, headers, exhaust, other bolt-on's are probably easy . . . i just want to gauge how hard it will be to do what i want.

i am sure i will have more thoughts, and requests for guidance, as my idea's start to gain som momentum, and temporal proximity to initiation,

thanks,
doc

Howdy,
The C6 Z06 is rated @ 505 bhp.  I have watched two getting dynoed.  440-450 rwhp in a 3,100 lb. car!  I plan on simple mods.  CAI or ram induction, tune (currently DiabloSport Pred.) and eventually full exhaust.  This should bring the rwhp up to about 530-540.  The only reports of needing upgrading involved stick, clutch and hardened half-shafts if going over 900 rwhp.
I hope that helps... Welcome to the Ford convert club...

Not to Rain On Your Parade................BUT HOW DO YO INTEND TO KEEP THE ASS END FROM PASSING YOU???  Anybody who wants that much power should get a pilots license  This New Z-06 is squirel happy.  If I were you I'd wait for the new ZR1 and then you'd have the ride of your life.  It sounds like money is no object so why not get the Factory warrentied model that will exceed 220 wherever it is legal to do so.  There's Bonneville, The Silver State Hiway starting in Wendover Utah near Bonneville, and the Autobahn.  It's also the First Vette that will have a gas guzzler tax on it

I'm not laughing at you, but with you, it is a pure pleasure to see someone who is as crazy as I was 40 years ago.  I've been over 200 on my 55th birthday on 4 wheels, and was over 180 on my 26th birthday on two wheels.  You're only young and dumb once and you usually don't get to go around twice so live life and live long Dude
