1960 Corvette Questions

I just bought a 1960 Corvette and am hoping someone can help with a few questions:
1. The tach was originally driven by the generator. The previous owner installed a 350 crate motor 20 years ago and replaced the generator with an alternator, but the rest of the car is stock. Should I buy a distributor with a tach drive ? If so what kind ? What would I need to do to make this tach work (i.e. do I need to change the tach movement) ?
2. The car originally had a power top but all parts have been boxed up for at least 20 years but appear in good condition. Where can I send everything to get reconditioned and ready to install again ? Is the system reliable and a "nice to have" option ?
