How much should an engine rebuild cost?

Considering the engine is 180,000 miles...no rods thrown...no noise....just the possibility of a blown head gasket?

For a GOOD motor rebuild, you'd probably be looking at 1200 to 1500 bucks. This would include tearing the motor completely apart, refurbing the rods, new pistons, machine work on te block, new cam and related parts, new gaskets, etc.

This price also figures you doing a fair amoutn of the work yourself. Stuff like pulling the motor, tearing it down to the short block, etc.

What're you looking to spend exactly?
