I posted this a while ago and heard nothing, so I wanted to try again.

Does anyone know of a C3 that someone's put an LS engine in? Or anyone planning to install an LS into their C3?

I have a 1974 ragtop that I plan to install a 5.3 engine into. The engine is from a 03 silverado. Should be able to pull 400 horses from it with very little trouble. I am putting in the 4L60-E transmission also. I ave a Vortec engine out of a van I was goign to install but I like the Fuel injection better so the Vortec will wait for another body to go into. I picked up the engine - complete with harness, computer, sensors etc. for $750.00. Not to bad. The truck engine is a good configuration due to the way the brackets are all set up, all tucked into the engine tight - Compressor is down low and that may have to be relocated.

I don't have my car back yet as it has been in the bodyshop since April. Should be done in a few weeks. Compete body and paint - Looks fantastic.

This will be  first time for trying to install this engine in this car so I don't know what types of problems I will run into yet. I have not been able to find any onfo on the net about this so it will be an adventure with no map.

Kirk and Phil, I will soon be installing an LS into my '65 Corvette. There are quite a few conversions around documented on the net. Scoggins Dickey makes 2 clutch brackets for z bar ball. One for full size, one for Corvette. Many places supply engine adaptor mounts. With looking one can find the instuctions to build them yourself, they're just flat plate.
I don't have an engine yet, I am torn between an all aluminum 5.3 or larger displacement 6.0. What mods do you plan to get 400hp? What will you do about ecm tuning?

Love the 65. A 6.0 would be a better choice for power but there's nothing wrong with the 5.3. If you need any wiring diagrahms let me know. I work at a GM dealership so I have some good access to information and parts.

I will do an intake, cam and headers and should be able to hit very close to 400 hp. The ecm you can send out, let the know what you are doing with it, they can turn off all the unwanted functions, set your gear ration, tire size and other things, you can also get a chip and program all the stuff yourself for about $400 bucks.

Nice thing about the 5.3 is it's a 327, so in essence it stays more true to the Corvette Heritage, especially with a '65.

It'd be cool to come up with an injection system for the 5.3 that looked like the old Rochester injection the '65 originally had.

I am using the entire swap from a 99 Suburban including transmission. I want all the goodies the 99 offered in my 79 vette. I have the complete running Suburban ready. If anyone knows of things I should watch for in this swap please let me in! Otherwise, I will try to keep you posted on what I go through for this.

I am putting a LS motor in my 76. There are some great write ups on another forum called www.ls1tech.com. Depending on which trans you go with will determain the configuration of the motormount plates. Another major concern is the waterpump. The thermostat housing has to be changed to one that will come out straight. The heater hoses point directly at the right hand upper control arm. These need to be relocated to come out underneath or you might be able to find some elbows that are tight enough to clear. You do have to add an electric fuel pump and regulator/return line. Also electric fans on the radiator. On LSTECH there is an ertire area dedicated strictly to ls swaps. Right know I have everything rounded up to do the swap ecxept for belts and hoses and I have about $800 invested. I do still need to have my ECM reflashed but you can get that done for under $100 if you shop around. The cheapest way to go is to get a 5.3 truck motor thenwatch EBay for intake manifold and oil pan. The F-Body or Corvette oil pans work best(give great ground clearance). Do your homework search the forums. Shoot me an e-mail if you want moreinfo I have a long list of links to al kinds of LS swap info.
