Water is leaking onto my '71 Vette floorboard (Driver side) from the area behind the Kick panel. I understand that it's supposed to flow in there and drain out. Rust seems to have clogged it up and it fills up to overflowing. How can I open it up. I have used all kinds of rust remover; tried to dig down through where the opening is (or where I think it should be according to the one on the passenger side). There is also a drip from the frame area under the dash on driver and passenger sides (near where the bottom left & right hand corner) of the windshield rests. The area right under the small removable clip-on body molding). Thanks for your help and direction. God bless you.

I'm a little confused where you're getting rust from considering this is a Corvette.

There are many parts on the Corvette that are metal. Tne body is fiberglass but not the whole car. Tha area that I am concerned about is the part where both door hinges bolt to. It is made from metal. The passenger side has a slot for drainage. The driver's side is stopped up from rust and corrosion over the years.

More than likely it's stopped up from leaves & twigs and anything else that's fallen through the vents in the wiper bay over the last ~35 years. As for getting all the gunk out, not sure what to tell you, but after that's done, you'll probably need to get new screens for the vents in the wiper bay to keep debris out. And unfortunately, the collecting water may very well have come into contact with the birdcage and caused rust, and that could turn into some expensive repairs. The only way to find out for sure though would be to take off all the panels to get to it.
