DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE OIL SENDING UNIT IS ON A 2000 LS1, THE PRESSURE GUAGE IS PEGGED OUT. CORVETTES OF DALLAS SAID THAT THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM THEY CAN'T BELEIVE THAT CHEVROLET DIDEN'T HAVE A RECALL. ANY SUGESTIONS?

Can't remember if it's in the lifter valler where the kncok sensor is, or up front by the timing cover/oil pump assembly. I'll do some digging and find out.

It's on the driver's side, up top behind the head near the firewall. You have to unbolt and move head to replace it, so you'll need the sending unit - about $50 - and a new head gasket. If you're handy and have right tools, it's not hard. If not, pay a good local garage and get guarantee, should be under $300.
