I have a 94 vette with 25k on it. Bought it last saturday drove 200 miles and the water pump let go. I was watching the guages all the way and at 70 mph with the a/c off was at a steady 190. I had it towed changed the water pump, had the system flushed, 3 hoses replaced and the thermostat replaced. Now sitting at idle a/c off it heats up to 230 before the fans come on. The fans come and it cools off to 215 then they shut off. What are the possibilites for this change in running hotter or is this normal for this year vette or is it the nature of all vettes. I want to be able to get in this car without the worry of an overheating problem lingering in the back of my mind. So could this be fans being weak and not pulling enough air? or when they flushed the system debrie clogged the radiator. bad thermostat. or water temp sensors not bringing the fans on early enough any knowledge on what I have explained would be great help. Thanks mike in st. louis

One thing could be, the thermostat you replaced might have been a cooler temp than the one you installed, probably the factory temp thermostat. Editor Heath has a '96 Vette, and I believe he replaced his factory 192 temp thermostat with a 160 to get the engine temp down.
Another option would be to get a cooling fan sensor that's calibrated to come on at a lower temp. I believe the aftermarket has these, I'll do some checking and post again.
