hey, i have an 85 corvette and ive got a problem. Its probebly just a simple mechanical thing but i do not want to pay to have it looked at. my car will not start up after turning over once or twice like a healthy engine should. It takes 6 or 7 turns of the engine with the pedal half way down before it will start. Even then i have to run it at higher rpm's untill it slows down idles smooth. I am thinking it is a sensor but im not sure? it seems like its getting a little flooded or loaded up on fuel because when it sits for a week with out being drivien it will start up fine with a couple turns of the engine.
If you can give me any info on it, please do!
i hate spending money to have it looked at when its something simple i over looked?
thanks kyle,

6 or 7 turns for the motor to start, especially an older motor, isn't that unusual.
But, the first thing I would tell you is change the fuel filter. If the filter's partially clogged, it takes the fuel pump longer to get fuel to the injectors. Second, check/change your plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
You mentioned it starts quicker after the car has sat for about a week, you could have some trash in the tank, letting hte car sit lets the trash settle to the bottom of the tank. Try chanigng the fuel filter firts though.
The other possibility is the pump is wearing out.
Again, first thing you should do is change the fuel filter and see what that does.

Definitely sounds like a fuel filter issue, though you might want to give the whole thing a once-over, just to be sure.
