I just bought a 68 427/400 and would like to know if anyone thinks the radiators for that year are as inadequate as some articles say.
I live in So Cal and the summers can get up there. Is a recore a wise preventive thought to a otherwise good radiator?
Thanks for your thoughts

I properly function stock C3 BIG BLOCK radiator should keep the motor cool enough for driving. I'd just make sure the car didn't have a small block radiator put in it at some time.

If you become concerned abotu using the stock copper/brass radiator, I'd suggest a full aluminum replacement form the aftermarket.

Also, make sure your fan clutch is in proper working order. If you're in doubt, replace the clutch with a new one. Also make sure your thermostat is good. again, if in doubt, replace it with a new one, thermostats are cheap.

Another thing is the radiator hoses. Old/bad hoses can collapse under pressure and restrict coolant flow. Replace if in doubt.

Make it a habit to check the parts of your vette to ensure proper maintenance of your vehicle.

I recommend getting a better radiator. The radiator yours comes with isn't bad, but I don't think it can handle some of the hotter days in SoCal.
