I got Banned from another forum. Here's why!

Hi folks,

I bought my 95 C4 LT1 Corvette in the summer of 2003 with the kind approval of my darling wife. Since then the Vette has become somewhat part of our family. We live in Ankara, Turkey, and have two kids (25 & 18 – both boys) and two dogs. I studied college in UK and I have been working in US joint venture companies in Turkey for the last 22 years.

Very shortly after getting my Vette I joined a corvette website/posting forum and enjoyed the site very much. Besides making some great friends there it also provided a wealth of information for the Vettes. I was a member of this forum until a few days ago when the following happened...

A couple of weeks ago I became a member of another great forum website and found it have a bunch of joyful people. It is really fun to be there. Since I liked it so much I went back to my original website and sent private messages to the people that I knew from the threads and also to some other folks who own C4’s. I think five or six of them joined the site I recommended, some replied saying “thanks for the information”. When I tried to log on to there earlier in the week, I received a message saying I was banned. I received an email later from this website explaining that I was “harassing other members and blatantly promoting another web site by PMs” and therefore the ban! I had to read rules of conduct after getting the message and yes there is mention of this, but they are not specific on what sites you can or cannot promote. Furthermore, I was never warned as their rules entitle you to warnings. They flat out banned me. I was neither harassing anyone nor promoting this other website. I was only inviting friends & people to a joyful Corvette web site.

I thought I should share the awful experience with my friends here.

I think that is crap.  Those people should be ashamed of themselves.  And even if you were "promoting" another site-seems pretty clear it would only have been to further the knowledge and interest of other Vette lovers like yourself.  Congratulations...You don't want to be part of any site that would restrict anyone from talking about Vettes.  and, the only thing better than a great Vette is a Darling wife who appreciates it...You the man
