I read an article regarding the availability and easy installation of a skip shift eliminator. I expect to take delivery of an 07 Corvette in about 1 week, 6 sp manual. I have driven numerous stick shift cars and I speculate the 1st to 4th will be a royal pain in the butt. I have yet to read anyone who likes it. My question is, If I install the skip shift eliminator will it void my powertrain warranty? Thanks. Brian

It depends on who you get the part from. The best thign to always do when ordering an aftermarket part for your still-under-warranty car is ask the manufacturer of the part in question if the installing it will void your warranty. Most companies design their parts so they won't cause warranty problems, but this isn't always true.

I spoke with the service manager at the dealer where I bought my Corvette and he does not agree with you. According to him, any non-GM add on parts void the warranty for that aspect of the car. This includes turbo-chargers, skip shift eliminators, etc.

Check out this link on the SEMA website:

Also, be sure to call the manufacturer and ask them this question. I can promise you're not the first person to face this problem, and the manufacturer can help you figure it out.
